Has anyone had any experience with these fish? The LFS have rated it as a moderate risk to corals but I don't want it destroying my reef. Briefly, I have 100 gallon tank and the corals I don't want destroyed are a Pagoda coral (Turbinaria), Goniopora, various Zooanthus polyps, Clavularia and Xenia. -- Regards, Alan Preserve wildlife - pickle a SQUIRREL to reply.

Yes tube worms are history alright ! Make sure you get one that is eating at the store and is plump. It seems quite common for them to be stressed out for a while upon arrival into your tank and stop eating. Some garlic soaked mysis usually entices them, PE is a very good brand. kim gross wrote: > Alan Gabriel wrote: > > Has anyone had any experience with these fish? > > > > The LFS have rated it as a moderate risk to corals but I don't want it > > destroying my reef. > > > > Briefly, I have 100 gallon tank and the corals I don't want destroyed are a > > Pagoda coral (Turbinaria), Goniopora, various Zooanthus polyps, Clavularia > > and Xenia. > > > > Alan, > > I have had many copper bands over the years, and to be honest I don't > think I have ever had one eat corals. I finally got it started on fresh clams in the shell bought at the grocery store.

My Copperband have never eaten a coral, just all the Aiptasia in the tank, the odd snail and pretty much any food offered. Mysis/Brine/Angel-Butterfly mix etc etc. I soak the food in Chromaplex for a few hours then add "Entice" food flavoring. He's a chubby happy chappie. But then who knows with ine!!!!

The bad part about them is that most will not eat prepared foods, so if they run out of food in the tank they can starve to death. Plus many of them will not eat when you first get them so they do not survive. But once you get one eating well, they usually do very well. Kim

Steve One should do fine in a tank like yours. That is the only place they should be IMHO. I kept them for like 25 years Alan Many people have CBB in their reef tanks -- Boomer If You See Me Running You Better Catch-Up Former US Army Bomb Technician (EOD) Member; IABTI, NATEODA, WEODF, ISEE & IPS Want to talk chemistry ? The problem I had is it would not eat the foods offered, once it ate all the pests in the tank it faded. -- See my web site http://web.tampabay.rr.com/myreef/ "Boomer" <wcwing@nospamchartermi.net > wrote in message news:X67ig.93$2z3.81@fe03.lga... > Steve > > One should do fine in a tank like yours. You need to train it first on brine shrimp, glass worms and blood worms first is usually the best. Once trained-- > reef tank, you then need to continue feeding them this ( or did you try this). The other issue is where they came from. Red Sea CBB are buy far the best to keep. Allot of times it is hit an miss on CBB, as they often, as you said, do note work out and starve to death. Big ones are usually bad and are set in their ways. I had I think 5 of them, 8 yrs, 5yrs. 5yrs, 3 yrs, and one 2 months -- Boomer If You See Me Running You Better Catch-Up Former US Army Bomb Technician (EOD) Member; IABTI, NATEODA, WEODF, ISEE & IPS Want to talk chemistry ?
