Subject: CPR skimmer mod
Hi folks,

I have a CPR SR in sump skimmer. It skims very well as long as there is
sufficient air getting to the pump. The little elbow fittings seem to
clog easily, and I want to replace the Rio pump with a maxi-jet 1200.
According to one website, amekaaquatics.com, you can get a venturi
fitting for a MJ, which looks a lot like the venturi attachment that
you use with a seaclone. And as far as I can tell, all you do is use
some tubing to attach the MJ to the existing plumbing, and stick the
venturi into the pump intake. Now it just so happens that I have a
seaclone sitting around, and if that's all there is to it, I'll save
the money and use that fitting.

Anyone else done this mod?

Thanks,
k

thanks for the reply. I had some build up in the elbows for the air
intake. A vinegar soak later and it's skimming well again.

Thanks again,
k

I tried it and switched back.
The original Rio was 1/2 as loud and produced much finer bubbles.
