I have a 4 inch fantail and a nice Moor. This week they got there own 20 gal tank. The move was brought on as the pl** was getting them at night.Boy that pl** has grown!!! My question is (the fish are happy as can be busy busy) I added 1 teaspoon of salt per five gal.I do not normally use salt but wanted the fish to heal up fast. Would this hurt my snails. Rams and Apple snails. there in the guppy tank for now but I am attached and will miss them here by my computer if the salt will hurt them. Enjoy the day ~freddie v~

Snails dissolve in salt apparently so not a good idea to add it with them! Mel. There are salt water snails, snails that do brackish water, and apple snails have been known to adapt to salt conditions but have to be introduced to it slowly. Oh dear thank you for the heads up there. I am getting 6 apple snails today. I keep reading up on them but could not find the salt answer. I love my fish and find it funny that I am getting into the snails. I only have 3 kinds so far but plan on collecting all I can find. Fred, I'd advice not to put 6 applesnails in your 20 gallon tank - they will foul the water big time. Applesnails can create as much waste as a goldfish when they are fully grown (they get big). They will also breed if you get a male and female.

With a healthy pond you shouldn't need "lots of water changes." ??!!?? -D -- "A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort." -Herm Albright
