Hi everyone, Im new to the group :) Ok, tank info, 50 gallons, side filter, 4 large (ish) goldfish. However, the smaller of the four spends most of his time hiding under the filter, have no idea why, because he seems healthy, and so do all the others, he does come out sometimes, and the other fish seem ok with him, but I am wondering why he hides? Thanks David

I had a fish doing this and he ended up dying. I "think" he had a bacterial infection, but I could never tell for sure. Do the water changes as suggested, and I'd also suggest the fish physical and other items on this page: http://puregold.aquaria.net/pg/disease/technique/technique.html#Jo_Ann's_Fish_Physical Good luck. if he didnt always act this way it might be because that fish is sick. what are your water quality parameters, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and pH? do the physical on the fish see if it has any problems. http://puregold.aquaria.net/pg/disease/technique/technique.html#Jo_Ann's_Fish_Physical if nothing else, do some 50% water changes 3 days in a row and see if the fish perks up.
